How you can bring more ease into your everyday life!
We have definitely entered the darker time of the year. Advent season is just around the corner, and every year it is packed with appointments and to-do lists. Advent should actually be a time of contemplation and tranquility, an invitation to reflect, to embrace the darkness, to slow down, and to focus more than ever on yourself and your needs. It is a wonderful time to be, to let go, and to take actions that are in alignment with your body. For me, the Advent season is also a time of mindfulness. I try not only to slow down a little in general, but also to pay a little more attention to the topic of mindfulness. For me, the last weeks of the year are a kind of invitation to bring mindfulness into my everyday life in a simple way more than ever before. Whether I'm cooking for my family, working, or doing the housework. Some time ago, I created my own mindfulness steps, which have accompanied me every day since then. They are my companions, but also my reminder that I don't need the perfect morning routine or meditation routine to be mindful. I can incorporate mindfulness into everything I do. And so can you.
My 10 mindfulness steps that always help me bring more mindfulness into my everyday life:
1. Back to basics
2. Kindness & Compassion
3. Grounding
4. Mono-tasking
5. Feeling
6. Surrender
7. Alignment
8. Acceptance
9. Believe
10. Grow
Number six, in particular, is a step that will accompany me more intensely towards the end of the year. Nature already shows us how to do this in autumn, when the leaves change colour, transform, and prepare to let go. Autumn, which is only a breath away from winter, teaches us, if we look closely, that it is important to simply let go sometimes. It shows us that change is a good thing and that we can accept it. We can make space and have faith. It is even important that we let go and make space. The old can go, it can say goodbye, we make room for the new, for all the things we want to invite into our lives. Letting go is often easier said than done. We humans tend by nature to be afraid of the unknown. That's why we like to hold on to the familiar, and why it's so hard to break out ofour comfort zone. However, I invite you to use today and the coming weeks not only to let go, but also to make room for everything you want to bring into your life in the new year.
Take a moment to close your eyes and focus slowly on your body and your breathing for a while. Feel and notice how it slowly enters and leaves your body. Notice how your body slowly relaxes as you do this. Then ask yourself the question: What am I ready to let go of? What no longer serves me?
Don't search for the answer, just let whatever wants to come up, come up. Then write down in your journal or on a piece of paper all the things you are ready to let go of. As you do so, try to observe how it feels in your body when you write these things down. How lightness is allowed to settle in your body and heaviness flows away more and more. This energy is the energy of letting go. Like trees dropping their leaves, you let go of everything that no longer serves you. It is important that we let go of old things or things that no longer do us good and nourish us. It is important because only then can we make room for everything that is waiting for us or that we would like to invite into our lives. Letting go does not have to be difficult; letting go can feel easy. Even if it may not be so easy for you today, remember: every time you surrender to the energy of letting go, it will become easier. It's like a muscle that needs to be trained. We can't ride a bike without practicing first. It takes time, willpower, and above all, practice. The same is true for mindfulness or letting go. Bringing mindfulness into your everyday life doesn't have to be difficult. The more you try to bring mindfulness into your everyday life, the easier it will become, and soon it will automatically become a part of you. You will bring mindfulness into every aspect of your everyday life and, more than ever, you will learn what is really good for you and whatnourishes you and your body. Never forget that we are all so different; what may be right for you does not mean it is right for others. Listen to what feels right for you and bring more of what nourishes you and your body in a wonderful way into your everyday life.
