A little edit of what we’re reading, watching, planning and looking forward to as the season begins to change.
01. Rewatching Gilmore Girls
Because somehow autumn doesn’t officially begin until we’re back in Stars Hollow. Cosy jumpers, endless coffee and that unmistakable small-town autumn feeling.
02. Spending far too long in bookshops
Going in for one book and leaving with three. Browsing without a particular title in mind, reading the first few pages and adding even more books to our reading lists.
03. Building an autumn reading list
A stack of books beside the bed, something new in our bag and a few quiet evenings reserved for reading. We’re very ready for reading season.
04. Returning to analogue evenings
Putting the phone somewhere else, opening a book, writing in a notebook or planning the following day. We’re craving more evenings that don’t revolve around a screen.
05. The first proper autumn coffee
That first slightly chilly morning when you finally order something warm. Extra points if it comes with a slow morning and nowhere to rush to.
06. Planning the last few months of the year on paper
September always gives us that fresh-start feeling. We’re opening our planners, looking at the months ahead and deciding what we actually want to make time for before the year ends.
07. Long autumn walks
Cooler air, changing leaves, a coffee in hand and nowhere particularly important to be.
08. Getting dressed for autumn again
Oversized knits, good coats, loafers and deeper neutral tones. Autumn dressing might be one of our favourite parts of the season.
09. Making home feel cosy again
Candles lit earlier, softer lighting, fresh flowers and making the little corners of home feel inviting for slower evenings.
10. Creating things that don’t need to become content
Taking photographs just to keep them. Writing thoughts in a notebook. Making something with our hands. We’re making more room for creativity that exists simply because we enjoy it.
11. Starting something new
September has always felt like a quiet second New Year. Less pressure, fewer resolutions and more of a gentle invitation to reset.
A new routine. A new book. A fresh page.
Sometimes that’s enough.
What’s one little thing you’re looking forward to this autumn?
